Oh yeah, it's a tough balancing act between being able to be self aware enough that you acknowledge how silly some things are and standing up for yourself and others are unfairly putting you down. Like if a normie says "ew, furries are gross", a nice comeback would be "I know, being one myself because can't stand how gross I am, ugh how can I LIVE with myself!" or "Really? You speak so confidently as if you know furries are gross, and the only ones that know furries are gross are furries so...", something that is silly and shows that the comment does not bother you. But if someone says "Furries are a bunch sick criminal psychopaths that need to die and would love to kill some of them" THAT'S when you raise your voice and defend yourself because at that point it has become less about commenting on furry and more about committing a crime. That's when you report and show you don't tolerate violence against anyone.
Just that I see people agreeing to those kinda statements thinking they are being witty or low-key agreeing with it.
